BRICK * BLOCK * THIN & CULTURED STONE

Stone Creek Rumford throats are
state of the art. From the materials
used, to the built in block ledge.
The thoughtful design has proven to
be most effective and greatly
appreciated by masons. In using a
Stone Creek Rumford throat and
firebox for your fireplace, your
construction time is slashed to
MINUTES, and you are assured of
proper engineering which gives you
the finest looking, highest heat
output, and most efficient masonry
fireplace available.

The Stone Creek Rumford throat is truly unique compared to conventional fireplaces. In a typical fireplace, all the smoke is pushed to the front of
the firebox and then exits up through the damper. The gases are then forced to the back by the corbelled brick work. The corbelling confines the gases
to an ever tighter area until it matches the inside dimensions of the chimney liner. A major drawback to this design is that because of the difficulty and
time that it takes to make, virtually none of the masons go to the effort to parge the inside of the throat by applying a smooth masonry coating. With
each course of brick being corbelled in, there are ledges that the gases get caught on causing turbulence. There are approximately 15 courses of brick
needed to choke down to the liner size. That means that there are 15 little "shelves" to catch and disrupt the natural flow of smoke up the chimney.
This is one of the main reasons that many fireplaces smoke!
The Stone Creek Rumford throat allows for the natural flow of the gases by a smooth transition from the firebox area to the liner with NO obstructions,
and a gentle arc to the back for a smooth exit up the chimney.
With the block shelf that we build into the throats there is no "down time" to construct forms or supports. This allows the mason to close up the rough
opening in record time! Never has it been so easy to build the finest wood or gas fireplace. The homeowner gets a fantastic looking fireplace, with
superior engineering built in. This provides peace of mind for the home owner as to whether their mason is proficient in building fireplaces. The mason
has the easiest installation of a fireplace he has ever done before.
